Calculations for Estimated 2008 Levy Dollars

The following information substantiates my estimate of the 2008 Levy Dollars being about $954 per student without equalization and $1258 with equalization for the 2008 calendar year. Estimating FTE Student Enrollment for 2008

The state provides FTE student counts for school years 2001-02 through 2006-07. By extrapolating these numbers linearly, I came up with 12,402.13 FTE students for the average of the 2007-08 and 2008-09 school years.

Estimating the Voter Approved Levy Amount for 2008

The proposed 2008 levy amount is $11,829,000.

Estimating the Local Effort Assistance (LEA) for 2008

Using the 2003-2007 copies of Battle Ground School District's Report F-780, I extrapolated the LEA to estimate that the LEA for 2008 would be $3,777,000.

Calculating Levy Dollars per FTE Student

By dividing the estimated FTE student enrollment into both the Voter Approved Levy Amount by itself, and into the Voter Approved Levy Amount plus the Local Effort Assistance, I came up with the $954 and $1258.

To bring these numbers back to 2004-05 school year values, three-and-a-half years of inflation can be deducted. Assuming 4% annual inflation, this reduces the numbers to $832 and $1097.
